Everything you need to know about Recollect.

New to Recollect? Start with the AI tool you use most. For most users, the easiest first imports are ChatGPT and Claude. After you import, use search or the conversation sidebar to explore your history.

Recollect works best when you start with one source first, then add others later. Most common first steps: sign in, export from ChatGPT or Claude, upload your file, search your imported conversations.

Getting Started
Recollect is the archive layer for AI work. It helps you import conversations and related history from the AI tools you already use, then search and organize everything from one place.
Recollect currently supports ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, and Cursor.
The easiest way to start is:
  1. Sign in
  2. Choose the AI tool you use most
  3. Export your history from that tool
  4. Upload the export file into Recollect
  5. Search and browse your imported conversations

If you use multiple AI tools, start with just one. ChatGPT or Claude are the best first imports for most users.
Start with the AI tool you use most often. For most people, that will be ChatGPT or Claude.
Importing Data
Export your ChatGPT data, unzip the archive, and upload the conversation JSON file to Recollect. If your export is split across multiple files, upload them one at a time.

ChatGPT export timing: Your ChatGPT export may not be available immediately. In some cases, it can take hours before OpenAI notifies you that it's ready.
Export your Claude data from Settings → Privacy, then upload the exported ZIP file directly to Recollect. You do not need to unzip it first.
It depends on the source: ChatGPT usually yes; Claude no.
Your newest conversations may appear first. Recollect supports loading older conversations as you scroll through the sidebar. You can also use search to quickly find older imports.
After import, your conversations become searchable and browsable inside your Recollect workspace. You can search for old prompts, answers, and ideas, browse imported conversation history, and import another source later.
That's exactly what Recollect is for. Import your history from the tools you already use, then search and browse everything from one place.
If an import appears incomplete or a conversation looks wrong, try searching for it first. If the problem continues, report the source, file type, and what looked incorrect.
Privacy & Data

The Chrome extension is designed to help capture or sync ChatGPT-related activity more conveniently. Manual import is still the most reliable way to bring in a full export history. If you are new to Recollect, start with manual import first.
